Apr\u00e8s ses \u00e9tudes universitaires, il se rend au Sri Lanka, o\u00f9 il re\u00e7oit l&#039;ordination de novice en 1972 et l&#039;ordination compl\u00e8te en 1973, toutes deux sous l&#039;\u00e9gide du v\u00e9n\u00e9rable \u00e9rudit et moine sri-lankais, V\u00e9n\u00e9rable Balangoda Ananda Maitreya (1896-1998).
