Biography
Dr. Astrid Kendrick is an assistant professor at the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary, who has been studying the scope and experience of compassion fatigue and burnout in educational workers since 2020. Before taking on her current role at the University of Calgary, Dr. Astrid Kendrick taught Physical Education and English/Language Arts for nineteen years to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in Alberta, Canada. Dr. Kendrick is the Chair-Elect for the PHE Canada Research Council.
Why I support the Compassion Coalition
My research suggested that the solution to burnout and compassion fatigue was greater organizational compassion in schools. Learning more about how schools can become compassionate spaces for children, youth, and the adults who work with them is my passion.
