Background
Yamel is a psychologist and human rights defender working on international cooperation projects for migrants and refugees in the city of Tapachula, on the southern border of México. She created a community project on Facebook called “Yo te cuido Tapachula,” which is dedicated to promoting solidarity among all human beings without distinctions as a way to promote social awareness in the city.
She is certified by the Compassion Institute and Nirakara in Madrid, Spain, as a Compassion Cultivation Trainer.
About the Project
Yamel is guiding her project at Fray Matías de Córdova Human Rights Center, offering legal and psychological care to migrants and refugee people in Tapachula, on the southern border of Mexico, as well as research work and political advocacy.
This is a very significant project for her because of the emotional pain experienced by both foreigners and the staff who take care of their needs.
The People
This is a brave and loving group of psychologists, social workers, attorneys, caregivers of children, and administrative staff.
The Impact
Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) practices restore people’s sense of self-worth, giving them the strength to move forward no matter what.
