Welcome. We’re going to share a practice of interconnectedness and interbeing. This is a practice that allows us to remember that we belong, that we belong to each other, that we are protected and supported by many, many others. And it will allow us to foster a sense of deep appreciation and belonging in our hearts.

So I invite you to join me. Please find a comfortable posture that allows you to feel at ease at home. You can invite a hand on your chest or just raise your hand anywhere that feels comfortable. You can close your eyes. Maybe start with a few deep cleansing and relaxing breaths. Tuning in with your heart, with your body, with your breath, with your mind.

Considering for a moment that we share this fundamental aspiration for happiness and freedom from suffering. And that my life and the life of many others on this planet are interconnected, intertwined. There is a network of relationships and our survival and well-being completely depend on this network.

You can start by considering the various necessities of your life. Necessities of health, well-being, maybe the food that we eat, the clothes that we wear, the house we live in, the books we read and enjoy, the ideas that inspire us, the many services we take advantage of—just realizing that we depend on each other, on many, many others for our survival, our comfort, and our joy.

Our lives would be truly impoverished without the innumerable benefits we receive from countless others every single day, every single moment of our life. Allow your mind to rest in this sense of interconnectedness and appreciation. Allowing your heart to open in gratitude to all those strangers that allow you to have your coffee in the morning, your chocolate, your favorite fruit, the authors that have inspired you, your teachers, your ancestors. Just allowing yourself to feel profoundly and deeply how we belong.

Let this feeling permeate yourself. And expand this practice into your day-to-day life. Maybe choose a different aspect of your day each day so that we can remember that we belong.
