A world where people and nature are cared for and supported so that both can thrive and prosper.
We know the challenge we face. Right now millions are living in poverty, the climate is under threat, and loneliness, anxiety, and depression are on the rise.
But we also know, thanks to decades of scientific research, that we have the capacity to meet that challenge and achieve our mission.
Compassion gives us the strength, wisdom, and courage to attend to suffering, build bridges, and diffuse conflict. It increases our own and other people’s happiness, fosters connection, and provides meaning.
Imagine if that power could be harnessed. Imagine if we could inspire individuals, organisations, and governments to act from a place of compassion, to attend to suffering, and build communities of care and belonging.
This is the job of the Global Compassion Coalition.

We will spark a major shift in the knowledge, awareness, and use of compassion by:
Launching a major new website, the one-stop-shop for compassion, that provides all the latest compassion research, news, and events.
Initiating a powerful media campaign that communicates the transformative power of compassion.
Supporting new research aimed at understanding how best to cultivate and spread compassion in society.
Celebrate Compassion
We will spread and embed the best ideas for bringing compassion into all walks of life by:
- Creating compassion prizes aimed at encouraging, showcasing and applauding compassionate people, organizations, and ideas.
- Publishing and promoting a popular magazine for compassion
- Hosting the world’s first annual Festival of Compassion that will be the gathering for scientists, politicians, business leaders, teachers and campaigners seeking to build a world of compassion
Influence with compassion
We will create and introduce new approaches to economics, politics, child development, and climate policy that have compassion and justice at their core by:
Initiating new research into these four areas.
Bringing together our scientific advisers and industry experts for regular think-ins on these topics that lead to concrete and measurable actions.
Taking our research out to those who have the power to change the way these four issues are thought about and acted upon.

We will uproot the causes of injustice and inequality and bring about a world in which people are cared for and thrive by:
Working with our members to launch a series of groundbreaking and irresistibly large-scale campaigns
Establishing the world’s first Compassion Index that can be used to guide and influence governments towards compassionate decisions
