Biography
As a psychiatrist-psychotherapist I have always been drawn to transdiagnostic approaches that unlock our self-healing potential. I pioneered mindfulness-based and compassion focussed approaches to mental health. With Frits Koster, I developed Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living (MBCL), a deepening follow-on program building on foundational mindfulness-based programs. SInce my retirement from clinical work I continue to teach MBCL around the world.
Why I support the Compassion Coalition
I joined the GCC because I feel cultivating compassion is what we need most, facing the many challenges around the globe. I feel I contribute in a modest way by sharing the themes and practices from Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living (MBCL), a science-based program to alleviate suffering and develop healthier and happier relationships with ourselves, each other, and the world at large.
