Biography

I have been studying the benefits of kindness for 25 years. And, of course, since ancient times, religious and secular thinkers alike have recommended kindness to others as a virtuous practice with unique potential to reflect great rewards back to the giver. I am excited about the GCC because kindness has tremendous positive effects for givers and receivers, as well as ripple effects that extend across families, neighborhoods, and societies.

Sonja Lyubomirsky (AB Harvard, PhD Stanford) is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside and author of The How of Happiness (published in 39 countries). Her research on the science of happiness has received the Diener Award, Peterson Gold Medal, and an Honorary Doctorate from U. Basel.
