“Compassion is the recognition of the suffering of others, coupled with a strong desire to alleviate it.”
Compassion is more than a feeling—it’s empathy in action. As a Connector, you’ll take simple, meaningful steps to ease suffering, build connection, and inspire others to do the same.

The Global Compassion Coalition’s Connectors Program
✨ What it is
The Connectors Program is the grassroots heart of the Global Compassion Coalition (GCC). It is a global,
decentralized network of volunteers who act as everyday agents of compassion. There are currently more
than 4,100 Connectors, supported by ~30 National Coordinators, with especially active communities in
Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, Ghana, and the U.S.
As Connectors, we commit to two simple, vital purposes:
- Deliberate friendliness, kindness, and compassion toward others — especially those we do not yet know well.
- Intentional acts of compassion — small or large — sometimes in teamwork with other Connectors or within our wider communities.
At its core, the program is about living out Nkosi Johnson’s call:
Do all that you can in the place you are with what you have in the time that is given to you.
✨ What it is not
Being a Connector is not about receiving financial support from the GCC organization. In the past, we
were able to distribute limited funds to Connectors in certain countries, but this is no longer possible. The
Connectors Program is rooted in resourcefulness, responsibility, and initiative.
The Connectors Program is part of the larger Global Compassion Coalition, but it is distinct from the GCC
nonprofit organization. Connectors are not representatives of the GCC organization, but individuals who
choose to embody compassion where they live.
✨ How the GCC organization supports you
While the GCC cannot fund individual projects, we remain deeply committed to encouraging and equipping Connectors through:
- Online resources: Trainings, guidebooks, and country-by-country listings of potential funding sources.
- Support for National Coordinators, who help hold communities together.
- Monthly online gatherings: Spaces for sharing, learning, and encouragement, often featuring guest speakers.
- Visibility and celebration: Highlighting Connectors’ work through our social media, newsletter, and website.
- A new online platform (in development): A digital home designed to foster community, collaboration, and collective action.
✨ The spirit of connection
The vision is simple yet powerful:
- Inspire small, deliberate acts of compassion that strengthen communities.
- Encourage local projects that reduce suffering.
- Foster a sense of global solidarity through connection, learning, and mutual support.
- Offer all of this as an open-handed gift, rooted in generosity, with no expectation of anything in return.
In short: being a Connector means taking responsibility for bringing compassion to life, wherever you are.
