Connectors Mobilize Aid in War-Torn South Sudan

In Aweil, South Sudan, the Compassion Connectors are becoming a known and powerful presence. “In our community, GCC name is like a song,” says James Akoon Akot, National Coordinator of the Connectors in South Sudan. “It symbolizes hope and generosity.”

Thanks to a donation from GCC members, James and his team were recently able to provide support to twelve families living in vulnerable circumstances in the community. Most of the assistance was given in the form of cash, allowing each family to decide what they needed most—often food or basic household items.

“This support has truly made a difference in the lives of those who had lost hope,” James said. “Your kindness has put smiles on the faces of those who had almost given up.”

Because of safety concerns, the Connectors chose to deliver the support directly to each family rather than bringing everyone together in one location. This helped ensure that the aid reached those most in need without putting anyone at risk.

These quiet, thoughtful acts of compassion are a powerful reflection of what the Connectors stand for—meeting people where they are and responding with care and dignity. “The impact of your donation will be felt for a long time to come,” James added.
