Solve the world's challenges with compassion
To the Secretary General of the United Nations,
It’s time for an era of compassion.
By the United Nations’ own admission, the Sustainable Development Goals are in “grave danger.”
Poverty and inequality are rising. Co2 emissions are increasing. Democracy is receding.
We need urgent and transformative action. And we need it across every level of society.
We cannot hope to achieve the change necessary with the same mindsets, thinking, and approaches that have brought us to this point of human and planetary crisis.
We need to spread the wisdom, strength, and courage necessary to alleviate suffering, share resources, and work together to face-down our shared threats.
To achieve this we urge you to do three things:
Acknowledge that new cultures of compassion, cooperation, and inclusion are needed in political leadership if we are to deliver the SDGs.
Establish a task-force charged with ensuring that all world leaders have the requisite skills to deliver on the SDGs.
Work with civil society on a campaign to promote awareness, understanding, and practice of compassion across the world.
