Indigenous and rural communities are among the most vulnerable to economic and climate changes, yet they are often excluded from the decision-making processes related to these changes, lacking the resources or education to impact their situation.
CIPLCOs was formed in 2023 to represent and unite these communities across Liberia and to bringing together professionals for purposes of advocacy, education, and organization of international support. CIPLCOs represents the rights of women and girls, individuals with disabilities, and other underrepresented voices across Liberia through the support of legal rights and the provision of livelihood development. CIPLCOs provides these services through the lens of sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and aquaculture development, recognizing the necessity to protect native lands for the sake of regional and global wellbeing as well as local economic sustainability.
CIPLCOs aims to bring forth a sustainable society founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace with responsibility to one another, to the greater community of life, and to future generations of Indigenous Peoples and Local Community Organizations in Liberia.
CIPLCOs believes in the mission to foster compassion, empathy, and promote sustainable development across diverse communities globally. We firmly believe that the knowledge and experiences of indigenous peoples are invaluable in achieving these shared goals.
